The food world was buzzing after this weekend’s inaugural Cherry Bombe Jubilee at the High Line Hotel in New York City. The thought succession amongst almost all attendees of the first-time event went something like this: everyone was excited about it when they heard it was happening, then nobody knew what to expect leading up to it, and it turned out to be really amazing. It truly is an exciting time to be a woman in food these days and I personally feel wondrously lucky to have been at the first Jubilee. As a hopeful female cocktail and spirits writer, I feel the heaviness of playing in a man’s world all the time. Booze is a boys club much like every other industry and I am proud to be an agent of changing that. But thanks to Jubilee, I got to spend an entire day in the company of some of the most influential and inspiring women in the industry — all with remarkable stories of passion and breaking through. It was a true privilege to be among the ones who came together to form a culinary powerhouse. I’m certain that I’m not the only one who left feeling very lucky, very inspired, and extra confident in the work we’ve dedicated ourselves to… not to mention pleasantly full. If only every day could start with Organic Avenue’s coconut yogurt parfait, The Smile’s quinoa salad for lunch, salted honey pie from Four & Twenty Blackbirds, and an evening cap of celebratory rosé.
